Passions Cross
They used to say love is blind But now apparently it has eyes The same eyes turn and cry A passerby will ask why He'd hang by and wait for a reply Then the man would howl Rip his clothes, shriek to the dark skies and cry I am in love with another man's wife
How did it happen? Are you so smitten? Why in the world did you allow Yourself to get so bitten What kind of illusion broke such an even disposition? You're a man of facts not easily corrupted Now you lie smitten by baser things best left to underling's You mean to tell me facts were hidden The discipline jar was broken
I don't know I can't be certain My insides keep tossing and turning For no apparent reason All I know is I am shaken by this depth of feeling In love with another man's woman
I cannot describe her eyes Her rich lustrous hair Falling down like a waterfall Between her perfectly formed shoulders Years will not permit me to speak Of her grace Her poise Her lips redder than blood that stains sparkling white gauze Even her voice... That sparks a series of very impossible choices Igniting a hunger whose flames Burn hotter than twin forges In a game of no winners A game riddled with losses
The passerby stared at the apparent fool in wonder Your thoughts are amok Your sanity lost How could you let something so brazen occur
He said only one thing 'Sir foolish as it may sound .. it was love! ' I was kindled by her touch. Now I fight a losing war Captured by a love That drags me nowhere but north To the forges From whence I may never return
